How to create web server from pc

How should I go about setting up my pc as a web server?

I am running XP professional and I have a high speed cable connection.

Also is this crazy talk for a relative web newbie or is it fairly straight forward?

With XP Pro you can host one website with the IIS.

You just turn it on, put some files in the InetPub/wwwroot folder and *poof* you're running a web server.

If you want to host multple websites, or really do some cool stuff you'll need a real server program like W2000 or W2003.

Or make the jump to Apache.
