If you can't figure it out from the instructions it's going to be hard to explain it in a web forum.

You might want to hire someone to do it. Any one of the senior people here could do it, but we'd need remote access to your server.

I downloaded and installed PHPdev and had it working in under 20 minutes.

PHPdev is one of many pre-configured (free) packages that includes Apache, PHP, mySQL, PHPmyadmin, the Cerberus FTP server program, and a whole load of other stuff.

This guide made manual installation of all 3 a breeze. For WinXP/2000 users:

http://www.mjmwired.net/resources/apache-windows.html [mjmwired.net]

Hope that helps!

PHPdev hasn't been updated in...well a long long time.

WebServ from Sourceforge.net is always maintained up to date. You can find it at [sourceforge.net...]

Hi, I'm really new to this, so I hope this isn't a duff package. I've just installed Xampp so I don't have to FTP to test CGI and PHP - couldn't have been easier on XP Pro

[apachefriends.org...]

Just unzip into a top level directory on a windows machine, start the apache and MySQL services and you're away.

Apache/2.0.48 (Win32) mod_perl/1.99_12 Perl/v5.8.2 mod_ssl/2.0.48 OpenSSL/0.9.7c PHP/4.3.4, FileZilla FTP, MercuryMail

Now I've just got to learn how to use it properly!

I use EasyPHP,
It installs PHPmyAdmin.
Anyway you may need PHPmyAdmin to manage your database You can download from sourceforge or www.phpmyadmin.net.
You will have to insert an alias in the apache configuration to use it from your browser
