Hi Everlast,
I found this......

<META name="Abstract" content="Abstract phrase"> (it would not hurt to use this, but few if any major search engines support it. It is supposed to be an abstract of the meta description tag. about 1 sentence vice 2 in the meta description tag) frequently people say it is good to make up 3 descriptions of your web page. one being about 25 words (meta description) to use for yahoo and directories like it, one with 40 words for longer expressions, and one with 15 words for shorter entry. having a meta abstract tag will help you by ensuring you also have the 15 word description as it will already rest in your head tag.

It can't hurt and as an exercise in understanding your site it's useful, but I don't believe that it has any other uses these days.

everlast, I'm going to have to chime in here and tell you that the tag has no bearing whatsoever. The abstract metadata is a proprietary tag used by a well known 3 letter company. It is a myth that has perpetuated over the years. There is no need to populate your <head> with metadata that serves no purpose to the visitor or the spider.
