I'm getting ready to purchase a wireless unit; i'm thinking between blackberry or treo?

Anyone recommend a particular one?

The Blackberry is a great e-mail device which also offers contact and calendar management features. For pure e-mailing and basic calendar and contact management, I have been exceptionally pleased with my Blackberry (7280).

That said, I think the Treo is a better all in one device. I use a separate phone.

I think the new Treo 650 is due out shortly (it offers a replaceable battery, among other enhancements). I would expect that to mean significant price drops on the 600 model.

I have the Treo 600 and love it. Other than a little nicer display and voice activated dialing, I don't know how they can improve it (without it costing a bizillion dollars).

I have the Treo 600 - can't live without it. I agree that voice-activated dialing is about the only thing it's lacking for me.

Treo with snappermail will get pop3 at any interval you set. The Blackberry works best with a corporate email server that relays the email to you. Email access was the crucial issue for me, so I sent the Blackberry back and love my Treo.

Blackberry has an edge over the Treo with the browser, but if the browser is more important than the Treo email capability, look at a PocketPC.

Snappermail is the first program I bought for the Treo - worth every penny.

I'm still looking for the right IM client - I've tried a couple and they each have their downsides.

Surprisingly, I haven't put an MP3 program on the Treo yet ... I was geared up to do that right after I got it but the Treo is such a valuable tool for me for so many different things that I'm not using it much as a toy.

I had a 270 for a while, but it was too slow and the screen not good enough compared to my Zire71. Now the Treo 650 with 320x320 screen has me salivating... It's a shame it will cost an arm and a leg.

Mine is on the Sprint network. Dropped it and broke the screen. No damage protection, so time to replace it. Anyone using a Treo on Verizon or Cingular? Im curious as to how good their internet/data service is.

I've got a 600 and absolutley LOVE it! I bought it initially for AT&T then unlocked it for use on Cingular (prior to the merger).

The biggest changes with the 650, as I understand it:
better screen
replaceable battery
bluetooth

For a chat program, have you tried VeriChat? It can connect to Yahoo, MSN, AOL, and ICQ all at once.

I would also like to inquire, which service provider is recommended for connectivity and data services? Cingular, Sprint, or T-Mobile?

I had both sprint and t-mobile and found that t-mobile has a better and more reliable coverage, also you can use t-mobile in europe, too.

Have used Sprint, Cingular and TMobile. Sprint is best value at $15 per month for unlimited internet. Coverage for me in Nevada, California and Hawaii seems to be fairly comparable.

I just read an article about the 650. Apparently people are complaining about it's lack of memory in comparison to the 600. The 650 uses a non-volitile memory that doesn't go blank when the device's battery goes dead. This sounds like a good thing, but the memory is not as efficient as the 600's memory. As a result, you can't store as much stuff in the core memory.
