Change OS Language on Pocket PC?

I wonder if any of the wise souls on this board are able to help me with the answer to a question?

I am presently living in China and am quite interested in buying a friend's handheld computer - a Legend 100 Pocket PC. The only problem is that the Windows CE (?) operating system is the Chinese version, which is not much use to me as I only know about 3 characters! Is there any way to load the English OS? I realize this is a little tricky, as it is loaded in ROM.

Any suggestions or other advice would be much appreciated.

You might try doing a full backup of an english version and then restoring it on the chinese one. That might work... but it might also back up everything BUT the operating system.

Maybe call the manufacturer and ask if they'd sell you a CD or do it for you if you sent it in.

I think that for all the trouble, it might be easier to get one in english.

Thanks for taking the time to reply. I posted on a couple of other boards and got similar replies. It seems that it may be even trickier than I imagined. I will phone the manufacturers on Monday to see if they can do anything, but have more or less decided that it would be better to buy a machine with an English operating system.
