GPS tracking system - Please suggest

need resources, where to find resources

Hi all,

Some of my friends have made a GPS tracking system(using J2ME, MFC and Microsoft Mappoint), they want to try many more things with the experiment, In India getting enough resources are not always possible, if anyone from this field , see the documentation and please suggest some help and some areas of applications.(idealwebtools.com/report.doc , get the documentation)

All help towards needful will be counted great and will be highly appreciated.

I have completed a project VERY similar to your proposed project.

My approach was web based GIS display.

Using aspmap from vdstech
[vdstech.com...]

the phones will send information (lat/lon/time)
using SMS to a specific IP address, and basically
a web service would read these coordinates
into the database and when a user refreshed the
map, a query would run, and the points would be
displayed on the map...
