how much would you pay someone to *rewrite* articles submitted by your client, for better keyword density, seo

this is probable more difficult than writing an article from scratch since the client will be twitchy at the thought of their corporate mumbo-jumbo being rewritten by some one external.

whats fair?

if i manage to convince the client this is necessary i might be posting to the commercial exchange soon ...

Stef25, I don't think this kind of rewrite is actually more difficult than writing from scratch. Often, these kinds of changes can be made fairly simply by word substitutions and minor reformatting or trimming of the article. Good writers usually try to avoid reusing the same word or phrase twice, often the opposite of an SEO-writer.

Check some of the past discussions of how much copy writers cost, but I think you'll find them all over the map. College students would be at the low end of the spectrum; hiring someone with SEO skills or a professional copy writer would be at the higher end.

Here's my .02 as a copywriter. For most projects, I prefer to charge a flat fee, because then everyone knows what to expect. But for rewriting, I always go hourly because rewriting can mean anything from tweaking a word here and there to re-doing things substantially. Most clients assume their job is "easy" and "anyone can do it" and "this shouldn't take long," but the reality is that they don't usually understand how much time good writing really takes. As far as prices... as someone said, they're all over the map. I'm one of the expensive ones. :)
