I am in the process of designing a new website which basically talks about the services we offer....being a freelancer, I want this website to represent me and my services....

My question is : what is the best way to structure all my content....should the home page act as a summary....talk about the services in short...and sepaarate links take you to the specific sections?

Should the home page act as a mere introduction or should it do more than this?

Also what is the best way to introduce myself? "Welcome" is "boring".......any ideas....

I think it depends on the industry your targetting and how professional you want to show yourself as or represent a WHOLE company. etc.

As with all writing, SHOW me what you do, don't just TELL me.

how you accomplish that is up to you as only you know what separates you from the pack.

Find an advantage, or a key point and maximize it.

Don't forget to keep your writing 20-25% shorter than for a print brochure, to keep the audience engaged.

Good luck,

The home page is always the hardest. When I'm writing web copy for my clients, I always do this page last. The most important thing is to write copy that makes the reader really feel the connection. Two questions that every home page must answer are:
1. Am I in the right place?
2. Can this business/organization help me?

You do this by showing, in very tight copy, that you understand the problems the reader faces and show that you can provide the solution. Use a lot of "you" language and much less "we" language.
