I wrote a few articles and submitted them to the free content sites. Now what I am wondering is should I post them on my site as well? Will Google view them as duplicate content?

Why not do some minor rewriting and reduce the chance of getting tagged as dupe content? Assuming your presentation differs substantially from the other sites, you might not get spotted anyway. It's quite easy to search for an article title and find multiple copies of it on different sites, all apparently unpenalized. Even so, why take the chance? Different titles, headlines, pagination, etc., along with a few wording changes, and you'll be able to sleep without worry. :)
