Hi,

I need more help writing great copy for my homepage.

This is very hard to do, I'm ready to cry

I believeI have the basics down, it is just that the language is not flowery enough to "get the people" to buy..

Thanks

Check out Net Words by Nick Usborne - great information about how to write for website visitors in particular - instead of all the books on copywriting for the world in general. You can also try and use a "sales thesaurus" like Words That Sell or Phrases That Sell for help with specific words and phrases to use in pushing the visitors to become customers.

What I have yet to find is a good offline book about increasing conversions rates on websites - I would love to see a book that is clear and to the point on that topic that isn't made exclusively for professional copywriters and direct mail people.

Glad you mentioned Net Words by Nick Usborne. I also highly recommend it -- bought it for myself just before Christmas.

If I'd known how useful it'd be to me, I'd have purchased it long before the holiday season.

I also recommend Net Words, Words that Sell, and Phrases that Sell. They are on the shelf just next to my desk, and I use them all the time when I'm writing both traditional print and web copy. I also recommend Dan Kennedy's The Ultimate Salesletter. You will need to adapt what he says for your web style/copy, but the principles in it are excellent.

Or employ a copy writer or someone to sub edit what you have done as long as they have a concept of what you want to achieve not just in terms of your content but how that content needs to work online.
