help with titles

Hello,

Here is my dilemma. Would I be penalized if two of my pages had similar titles in the source code? One being the home page and the other being an inside page?

I'm thinking of switching the title around for one of the pages in order to get more targetted traffic, and don't know what to do about it.

Due to laziness or ignorance, there are sites with thousands of pages with identical titles. There's no penalty on any major SE for similarly titled pages, but there are definitely good reasons to make each title representative of the page content. The title is fairly important in some algorithms, plus it is usually the link displated in the search results. Choose titles that are unique, descriptive, contain relevant keywords, and which invite clicks. Keep 'em short, too. :)
