How to long to hear from Google on DMCA?

I recently filed DMCA paperwork with Google. I would like to know long it will take to hear back from Google with a response. If they do agree to pull the infringer's pages, how long will that process take?

I would especially like to hear from people who have filed a DMCA with Google.

Good question, gomer. On general correspondence about penalties and the like, I've seen reply times ranging from a day or two to weeks to never. I suspect DMCA issues are treated more formally, though. Good luck!

It has been three days since the filing and we have not heard from Google. I must admit I am a bit surprised to not have heard from them by now.

I will keep my fingers crossed and hope for a reply in the near future.

My DMCA complaint took around 3 months........

tbear did you have any communication with them during that intervening 3 months? Also did you get an email saying what they had done?

I didn't contact them again, but they advised me that they had recieved the complaint and later that it was completed and the offending site removed from index ;)
I also sent a complaint to Alta Vista, who advised me they were not interested :(

How long after you filed your complaint did Google respond saying they had received it?

Three months for action to be taken is ridiculous to me and would make the DMCA largely ineffective. Was everything filed correctly the first time or did they request you make changes or ask for supporting information? I am trying to understand why it took three months in your case.

When action was taken, did they pull the infringer's entire site or just the offending pages?

Alta Vista not interested? Hmmm... I did not think DMCA's were something that gave you the choice to be interested or not.

Everything was filed correctly (by snail mail from Spain) first time with Google, who removed the offending site.
Alta Vista were not given the whole trip as per Google since I really could not be bothered to go through it all over again.
Bear in mind that Google, I believe, will contact the offending site to verify the situation, then, I assume, await a reply. Long drawn out process! Worth it to remove this particular cretin's site from Google, though. The idiot actually left all my copyright metas in place on his site, LOL.
Since the site is still up, perhaps I ought to go to the hassle of legal proceedings...... Might even be a few bucks there for me.....
