Are some encryption programs bad for SEO

I've been looking to encryption my HTML and images with HTML Guardian Professional. The software will disable right click and fragments images. I don't want my images copied.

My questions are as follows:

What are your experiences if you have utilized this software?

Since the page visitor is redirected to an encrypted file does that have any impact on search engine rankings?

Any recommendations on the best software to accomplish my goals?

Welcome to WebmasterWorld, nefit. I'd say that using that product could have a major impact on rankings. I tried the SimSpider from SearchEngineWorld on their demo page, and it couldn't find the content.

Do you have some incredibly valuable, proprietary stuff going on? Otherwise, I'd avoid this like the plague.

Rogerd, thanks for the welcome and advice. My primary goal is to halt the copying of the photos in our site which we produce in our own studio.

You might try searching this site for "image protection". One problem, of course, is that if it's on the screen, a screen capture will grab it regardless of how much you have obfuscated the pic URL or messed with the visitor's ability to right click. Here's an older discussion of this topic: [webmasterworld.com...]

Watermarking is one way to discourage copying, but of course it defaces the image and can still be removed by a determined user handy with a graphics program.
