Movie Review Content Stolen

Okay..

I just came across a site that has made me unbelievably mad. I own a movie review site, and this site, too being a review site caught my interest. It was thus a huge shock to me when I found MANY PARTS OF THE SITE copied pretty much VERBATIM with one or two words changed (name of site, numbers, etc).

I looked at Google and the site has a fair number of backlinks, thus prooving to be a somewhat active site.

I AM ANGRY. What do I do? There's no way I'm going to actually go to court or anything. I'm thinking I will e-mail the webmaster threatening legal action. If he doesn't completely remove all the copied material, then I'll contact his host.

But what if neither of these solutions work? I'm mad for mainly three reasons:

1. Competition. I don't want people going to this site when much of his site was copied from mine.

2. I took time to write/code that stuff. He simply wasted my time by copying it and using it as his own.

3. He is making money off of MY work.

I am extremely upset. Please comment!

I feel your pain.

I'm in a similar situation with some jerk who copied and pasted entire sections of my site into his new site. When I confronted him, at first he removed the pages but then a few days later he got rude and put them back up! So what I do now is run a search and if I find a site listing/linking to his I politely send that site a request to please remove the listing/link of the offending person's site with an explanation of WHY and I also include links to the specific sections copied of my pages and the the links to the ripped off version of my pages on their site.
So far EVERY one I have ever requested was removed!

Okay - here is an early version of the page, describing some of the stuff he copied.

tylercruz, you shouldn't post URL's here

Talked to the owner. Turns out the original owner was the guy that did it, and the current owner took over and didn't know about it, and after a lengthy talk via MSN, he agreed to change the copied information.

That's GREAT!
Glad you got it sorted out. Now go get linked to all the sites that linked to him!
;)
ps... the one that copied MY site currently only has one link to his site showing now. Heheheh... the sooner he shrivels up and goes away the better!
