Similar content for different approach considered duplicating?

One commercialized, one ad-free site with similar content?

Hi folks, this is Jens (German, living in the US) I am new here as well (posted this one in a different area of this site but no response).
I am running a couple of portals and shopping directories plus free information, e-mail and other useful stuff for my users ('bout 4,000 uniques a day).
It's just a hobby though, I am not a pro and might have a couple of stupid questions. In real life I am a marketing manager for a chemicals company, not enough time for the web stuff unfortunately.

Now my question related to this post:
I am running a site with approx. 120 categorized pages with affiliate links on them. Now I just launched a similar site with the same content but advertising-free. The layout is similar to reflect kind of an identidy across the sites and the content is similar because it's just another option for users to browse ad-free.

How much is my trouble gonna be with the big SEs in this case regarding considered doubling?
