The 956 page latest edition of the Chicago Manual of Style will be published next month. In particular it addresses many issues related to the web.

How, for example, to cite an evolving Web site whose earlier pages have become inaccessible, or one that has been discontinued? Should one cite the shortest functioning version of a URL, rather than always include, for example, "http://www ... "? And should one record the dates on which sites were accessed?
...
"We actually wrote drafts one way and then the other way, and talked it out, and then the people who didn't think full URL's were necessary, or that access dates were particularly useful, were persuaded."

You can also register on their site (click on members to register) and you can search the new edition online now.

There has been a lot of hype about this new edition, because it will have a greater emphasis on the internet.
