'kay, I'm really puzzled about how to correctly fill out the copyright application and I haven't found any info so far that clarifies my specific questions.

First background, then questions.

I designed a website for someone else. I signed a release granting him full rights to everything. I don't have a question about ownership...he's got it.

I created a signficant amount of the website content. The site authorship breaks down this way:

He authored:
photographs
photo captions
visible written content (poetry, self bio, etc)

I authored:
all html and css (hand coded)
all meta tag content
alt and title text for links, photos and images
logos and custom graphics
I also titled all of the pages and all the photos. I realize that titles themselves aren't copyrightable, however it's not clear to me whether or not page titles within a website even constitute titles in that sense, as opposed to merely being part of the text of the work itself.

Now, as I said, ownership is not an issue. I transfered full rights to him. My question is about how to properly fill out the copyright registration form.

If I'm understanding correctly, he should be listed as author 1 for the parts he created, and he should also be listed as author 2 for the parts I created and the work-for-hire box should be checked.

Not asking for legal advice, just other perspectives on the best way to handle this.

Thanks.
