Recently I published an article in one of e-Zine Web-site. The idea was to bring some traffic to my Web-site. Thus, I put a link to Web-site at the bottom (in authour secrtion, it were several in a textbut they got deleted). A week later there is no traffic from this site as far as I cann see.

So, could anybody explain me what is a big reason to publish articles on e-Zine sites?

The ones I can think of are:

1) You will be seen as an expert writer or source in that field, if the articles are good and valuable that is.

2) Your site will be linked and that way you will hopefully earn traffic. It does take more than a week, for one of my site it took several months until the articles I've released for free paid off.

3) The article has a higher chance of getting quoted in a more reputable source.

Obviously there are pitfalls with this kind of marketing method too. The most problematic one is that you help other sites in similar areas as yours to get content, content that you would rather have visitors read on your own sites.

Thank you for the explanation!

How do you know that your article was quoted?
