1] Where do I find the best and authentic source of "How the websites became portals?" .
2] Internet is all abt economics. The biggest economy is of USA and so is the internet economy largely driven from USA. I have observed that what USA implements today , takes around a decade to filter down to the third world country, specifically India& China.
E-mails came to India around 1996, in a big way and right now , its 10 years but the penetration is yet only .0001% of the total population . This is largely due to infrastructure problems ,etc.
So is it possible to check-out what happened in US in 1995/6 , from webmasters angle and implement the same ideas with local customization?
Would that kind of framework work?
For example, I observed internet banking in USA started early but in india , except for few large banks , we are still offline. Its now catching up, but only in the big cities.
Big cities where there is a large concentration of highly educated IT-savvy population is heavily into internet and few have even hopped onto the ad-sense bandwagon.
3] So, is it possible to replicate what happens in USA with local customizing?
4] If yes, then here is the big question for YOU ALL . WOULD YOU LIKE TO CREATE A BRANCH HERE IN INDIA FOR YOUR WEBSITES/PORTALS?
5] TAKING IT FURTHUR, HAS ANYBODY DONE THIS KIND OF THING? i.e. built website, content, earned revenues thru adsense,etc and then taken it furthur outside their geography & earned profits?
I am aware that people are ripping websites [from what I read from this forum ], so wouldnt it be better to put up a local "branch" in the country , do a legal tie-up, ask local guy to bring traffic, share revenues, spread the reach?
Iam aware of the bigger players like monster, yahoo, msn, google, etc having their india/china presence but dont know if the individual guys are doing it?
