The CIA factbook is used by the wiki-community as a source for information; since it is published by a US government organisation, I believe it is in the public domain - does that mean that I may copy and paste the country info provided in the CIA factbook online without any worries? Thanks,

W.

A quick browse through their FAQ reveals:

Can I use some or all of The World Factbook for my Web site...?

The World Factbook is in the public domain and may be used freely by anyone at anytime without seeking permission. If you have any questions about your intended use, you should consult with legal counsel. As a courtesy, please cite The World Factbook when used.

Without any copyright worries, yes. Without any duplicate issues, mmm now that's another matter ;)
