Who has copyright?

I was asked by a prospective client to update another webmaster's site. However, since she can't find him, I will not touch his work, a content management script, written from ground up. I said I would create another site for her. Here's my question:

Does the written content (re:horse facility) belong to the web owner or the webmaster? Is this another situation where the verbage needs to be rewritten?

I appreciate your feedback.

In respect of copyright to the written content, you need to have this clarified (preferably in writing) by the website owner.

Likely the issue of copyright will be between the owner and author of said content, however, this cannot be assumed, so, I repeat: ask your prospective client for clarification. Once you know the situation, proceed accordingly... :-)

Good luck!
