Forum Moderators: not2easy
I don't check regularly for copying, because I'm not plagued by it. Just used a site that checks for copies to check a popular page on my site and found that five blogs had all done the same thing, at around the same time (October/November): taken a chunk of text about 100 words long, each chunk being different, with a link back to my site embedded in the text. The blogs all looked pretty similar, all seemed to be made up of randomly (?) taken chunks of text with links back to the sites they were taken from. No personal commentary, no information about the blogger. Could all be the same person, for all I know.
What was strange is that there was no obvious motive--no AdSense or other ads on the site.
I'm inclined to just ignore these. They can't be hurting me in the search engines, this blogger isn't making any money (in fact I suspect that they used to have AdSense on the blogs, got shut down, and just moved on. No new entries in three months). And the snippet is a fairly small chunk of the article.
Am I wrong? And if so, what do you suggest I do?
