I run an education site and wish to put some audio files on it. I am trying to find some public domain audio and have found only a couple of sources so far: some unsuitable .gov sites in the US and voanews.com which is more helpful.

Does anyone know of other sources for copyright-free audio - can be in any format.

Thanks in advance.

(sticky me if you don't want to post links)

Have you tried archive.org? Not all of their sound files are copyright free (like the Grateful Dead recordings), but I believe they may have some.

I assume you could use stuff under free for use or free for non-commercial use licences as well as public domain stuff?

If so there are some links for the Creative Commons site.

Google advanced search has a filter by license option, but I do not know how well it will work on audio.
