They say that they have received a notice from one company saying that I have been trading on the good will of one of the company brands, and that is illegal in the USA.
Can someone explain me what can happen? what is "trading on the good will" mean?
LOL, I don't know what that it but it doesn't sound like something you'd want to get caught doing.
To me it sounds like a company is claiming you're infringing on their trademark in some way. But if you want a useful answer you'll have to be more specific. (Just use "widgets" in place of whatever product is involved.) I bet you probably already have a pretty good idea why this company is complaining.
most likley the same reason or related to why google halted the adwords account.. [webmasterworld.com...]
This may also be referred to as "trading on the good name" of another or "trading on the reputation" of another. It could be taken as mis-representation, I believe, or even false advertising.
It might help if you provided a rough outline of what your site is or does (using suitable anonymising, of course).
Thank you.
