Why are they so popular

Manually scraped sites getting lots of traffic.

I've seen a few well-known high Adsense earning sites, which just copy paragraphs of text from other sites, 80-90 percent of their content is made up of manually scraped content (near 100% on page). I've quoted other sites in this way myself to add an extra perspective to my views but how can a site whose content is made up entirely of stolen content, be so popular and successful.

I think people like being able to go to one place and find material they like.

It's just like those friends you have that are well-informed about certain subjects, or a magazine with lots of small clippings about a subject that you're into.

With the limited time many people have, it's nice to be able to go somewhere and get a quick fix. Maybe people use it just like a portal, with focused content.

Yeha thats rights, my host allows you to add one word to the URL to list the stats, they are rather large and many sites are hosted by them.

People should take care.
