the copyright related software site

i set up a site for collecting some kinds of software,and i went to download.com and found some in their site,can i copy the description of the software and link to their download page? i am a newbie on copyright ,so please give me advice.

download.com will eat you alive if you do this ..( well actually their lawyers will spread you on thin toast and feed you to their clients in between the canapes )..

write your own description/reveiw ..and ( after asking and being told "yes you can"..it's polite to ask ) link to the software makers site(s) or their mirror(s)..

and check your own out going links regularly ..nothing will make visitors abandon your sort of site faster than if its is full of dead links
