When I use a picture, having the accord of the author how shoul I give credit?

1. Placing his name under the picture or placing under the picture "copyright Name of the Person"

2. Adding at the bottom of the page I used the picture or picturese) a text line:

"Image of red widget credit & copyright Name of the Person"

I would prefer variant number 2, but please tell me your opinion on this.

many thanks

IMO, the attribution belongs in close proximity to the photo

If you look in magazines and newspapers and such, the credit usually goes, in very teensy print, right by the graphic, sometimes along the side (so the "credit" text is vertical).

Since text under the graphic might be misperceived as being a caption, have you considered creating an image, using teensy print, to post right alongside the graphic, which contains the "credit" info?

Just an idea...

It is so nice to see a post by someone that asked permission.

I would go with adding the text to the graphic itself. Either along the bottom or the edge. That way if someone hotlinks to it, they still get credit.
