Article submission SEO question

For traffic, for links, for pub?

I have 2 sites:

Site A: Fairly well known, plenty of natural links, ranks high for all keywords that matter.

Site B: New site in an underserved niche with a new spin on how to do things “right” Site B is sandboxed, has less then a few 100 links acquired in a link building campaigned.

It is obvious Site B would benefit most by an article submitting campaign with 3 or 4 quality articles per month about how Site B works and why it is better than any other site like it on the web. It seems this would get the word out on web pages that actually get listed in the SERPS because they are not in the sandbox and on well established sites.

However, Site B is a different story. It seems any article page we put up on my site related to the site’s topic is top 20 in a week for the new pages main keyword. So wouldn’t it be better to post articles to my own site and get the traffic direct instead of blasting the web with the article across several web sites?

Sure Site A would be losing the link-back factor but it already has plenty of links and is not in desperate need for more. Another thing it would lose may be those people that actually read the distributed articles, on the “article websites”, and might visit the site because of where they read about my site.

It just doesn’t seem like using an article distribution service or software makes sense for an established site like Site A, but it might be a great asset for Site B, an unknown website stuck in the sandbox for 6 months to a year.

Opinions on using an article distribution service anyone? Are they more for traffic or the links back? Are there advantages of using mass article submission for established sites?

Hi Jdancing,
While I have never used an article submission service I still have an opinion:
Why not do both? Put a version of the article on your site and then submit a rewritten version (to avoid duplicate content)to the article services or sites.
If the article service works out really well..simply take the link off of your site which is pointing to the sandboxed site.

Error correction, the above quote of my initial post should say site A....

Site A established, new pages rank well within days.
Site B sandboxed, nothing ranks well.

If I get some positive feedback on article submission services I will use one for site B and put an "almost dupe" of the same article on Site B.

But for Site A, is it even worth looking at article submission when I can post articles and get them ranked quickly on my own site?

I guess, the main question is article submission mostly to get backlinks or drive traffic?

You submit articles to distribution sites and services to gain backlinks, traffic and publicity.

The amount of these three things varies wildly and is based on such things as:

1. Topic of article.
2. True quality of article.
3. Level of interest in the industry.
4. Exposure.
5. Luck.

You can manually submit your article(s) to many sites and/or use a article submission service.

As to dupe content, I have not seen this affect me at all. If you are going to put the article on your site, do so first. Many will recommend doing some small tweaking for general release.

Can someone sticky me with an article submission company recommendation?

The company I was looking at seemed OK except all the articles that they also listed on their website’s directory had no GG cache – but did have PR. Then when I searched on some exact phrases in some of the articles, I could only find 1 or 2 copies of the article on other sites. I would hope that a good service could get a good article on at least 10+ website’s.

I use the services of Article Marketer for most of my submissions.

I also use Article Submitter Pro which is a software solution.

Article Marketer takes me 5 minutes to submit articles, and has a growing list of sites, and thier features are growing at an astronomical rate.

Article Submitter Pro is also a good package, much cheaper than Article Announcer and probably has more features than the current version.

I have gone into much more detail on my niche wesites blog.

Direct links to these (not affiliate links)

I do have much more detail on my blog which will help your buying decision.
