Copyright theft: can't track ISP

ISP claims site not theirs, comes from a 3rd site

A photograph of mine has been used three times by a site. Each time, I sent a DMCA and the image was removed, only to be reposted at a later date. The site has now removed the image from its main site, but reposted it without framing outside the site. It enables numerous other sites link to it, proliferating the copyright problem.

I contacted the ISP listed on the web site registration, who have been cooperative in the past. The say, however, the image is not coming from their servers, but from a 3rd party ISP. The 3rd party ISP, upon receipt of a DMCA, says I am not giving enough information on the location of the image (it is listed as on the original ISP). Is there a way to track this image? Could it "cloaked" in some way.

All in all, the image has been taken over 400 times to my knowledge and lawyers are working on the significant thefts.

Since the site has stolen the image several times and is not eaily scared by a DMCA, I'd say you are dealing with a knowledgable foe. It is possible to use dirty tricks to obscure the source of the image. Look at the html code on the site and start backtracking from there. You may also want to use a http header viewer.

Thanks for that suggestion. However, and it might be my problem, that didn't seem to work. I went to the HTLM view and it said it was blocked.

However, I got some help off list from another forum member and have gotten the ISP info I needed. Many thanks to a generous guy. Since it was off list, I'll not mention who, but it was greatly appreciated.

All the best,
