Blogging for traffic - how, what and where?

I want to create a blog for traffic creation purposes. I have a site that sells a couple of very specific items and I have a lot of insight that I want to share via a blog in hopes that it will get more trafic headed to my site via the content in my blog.

Pretty common thing, I would think?

But I guess I do not know enough - really anything at all - about how you create a blog so that it is optimized for getting into search engines and bringing in traffic.

Some of the questions I have are -

Does the name of the blog matter? If I am an expert on widget a and widget b, should my blog have a title like "widget a and b News and Views". Dpoes it matter

Does the blog host make a difference?

I guess I am l;ooking for a step by step guide, or at least some tips on how to correctly set up a Blog so that Google and the rest can pick it up and drive some traffic.

Don't have time to create a step by step guide. I will share some tips to avoid common pitfalls that blogs experience. Write content that is going to be interesting and will make people want to link to you. Develop inbound links from inside and outside of the blogging community. Make sure your blog has search engine friendly urls. Good luck :)
