I am getting ready to publish some content to my website that has already been published on the web. Several bloggers from different blogsites are contributing some of their "articles" to my website. These articles already exist on their blogsites and have already been indexed by Y and G.

I'm wondering if I will be penalized for having duplicate content, or if those pages might just be ignored. It's just the raw text of the articles that is duplicated, the rest of the page will be differnt. Anyone have any thoughts on this?

(sorry if this is'nt the right forum, it's kind of an overlapping issue...)

If you fear penality put those articles in one folder and ban robots to visit that folder

"If you fear penality put those articles in one folder and ban robots to visit that folder"

That would defeat the whole purpose of publishing the content to the website. I want people to find it in the search engines.

Yes, thre is a penalty for duplicate content, but I'm not convinced that it's a massive penalty.. And google certainly doesn't care where it was published first, just where it was published best.. Meaning that if you can get your site to rank higher then you may be considered the "source" of the article over the blogger..
