I'm out of ideas for promoting original content -- it's a news site, emphasis on the quirky and written by a journalist, proper stories not commentary -- but we can't seem to get to the next level. We're on google news and moreover and a few other aggregators, we have done content exchanges in the past but the results weren't exciting...We did manage to license some of the material to print, but that has dried up..
I think it'd be decent fodder for commentators on sites like plastic or boing boing, if they knew about us. Trying to suggest our stories to them has gotten us nowhere, as you can imagine, since that's not how it works...

You have to make something so crazy that people WANT to forward it to their friends, and funny stuff works best.
