Hi all,

I am trying to track down places that take articles. Looking mainly for those that are general sites which distribute articles or others go there for them.

I have only found Ezinearticles thus far.

Anyone have others?

You are giving away free articles? I will take them . . . What are they about?

I plan to write on:

credit (IE credit repair, laws, etc)
website promotion
political thoughts
business issues

Most likely others in time.

I have a few motives.

1. The articles I publish will have my copyright and link to my personal site (my blog). So perhaps a little SE strength here.

2. Articles will most likely have 1 extra link if the topic warrants. For example, I recently wrote an article on credit repair facts & myths which had one link towards the end to a free site with information on credit laws, letter samples, etc.

3. I am currently working on a degree in Journalism before attending law school. Having content around the web is a nice reference and good practice when time permits.

I was thinking of making an email notification system where webmasters/whomever could join and be notified whenever a new article from me or any writers I associate with is available for using. Would this be a good idea?

There are several sites which take articles. It all depends on the topic of your articles. You must also see if the site has good traffic. Out of the general sites, buzzle portal is one most choose as it allows you to add any number of links in your article. The links are direct and moreover your links get into the Buzzle directory automatically, so submitting article is an indirect way to get your links in their directory without paying.

There are several other sites which take articles. Then there are some free content groups on yahoo/google groups where you can submit articles, but not sure if they get on a crawlable site or not.

For two of those subjects you might want to try [allbusiness.com...] They take business and financial articles and give you attribution and a promotional paragraph to link to your site.

I'm still new to this field. I have publshed a few articles at ezines and article city for the extra inbound links. However as I'm learning, I think I made a mistake by incuding the same articles in my sites content, though they are slightly modified.

How big a negative is this? (duplicating some content)

Is there any sense in someone using articles from this type publisher as it will be duplicate content?

Seems like anyone who might use it wouldn't be net-savvy and the links generated would be of low rank anyway. Probably answering my own question...keep the content on your own site, and throw a few teases out now and then on the article clearinghouse sites.

Am I getting warmer?

Using other people's articles on your own site is a great way to add value to your website. Your goal is to get people to return.

Seems to me that you are thinking about Search Engines here, which is not wise IMHO. I really don't think that anyone who runs a business with the SE in mind 100% of the time will make real money. Traffic is being wasted if you can't create bookmarkers out of your visitors.

If you are the author, I would agree to not put all of your content out for use, but there is nothing wrong with putting enough out there to generate interest in your website.

Only you can answer the quantity question. Perhaps you write a new article every two days. In that case, using one every week as a promotional item would be a good move.

Check out the EzineArticles Forums and then "Where Else To Promote Your Articles". There are a couple of good sites there.

Good Luck!

I should point out that my original question is no longer valid :D
