Re install a package in RH 7.2

Hello
This is a RH 7.2 question
I dev in PHP and MySQL from my set of machines running 7.2 and RH 9.0
For some reason I started to have problem with the Quanta editor
I uninstall all ref to Quanta
And try to reinstall from the CD RPM
when I try to install the package
It feels like the install operations dies on me!
And I cannot reinstall
I tried to D-load from the quanta site the RPM
And still cannot install the package

Anything I can do to get my editor back

That is the kind of situation that *screams* for a log report of the errors...

I can't deduct anything from your post alone.

yes I will look for the log and post
I am presently away from that machine

in addition
I looked all over and cannot find any leftover from Quanta that I uninstalled

however when I try intalling it gives me "Pack already installed!"

I'll love to do a full reinstall for even from the package installer I have now problems
It hangs forever when "reading installed pack headers"
and I have to perform a ctrl/alt/del

is there a way to do a full reinstall of RH over and saving the existing like Database existing etc...

when I try installing it gives me "Pack already installed!"

If that's the problem try

a) using the --force flag (do it on your own risk), or
b)If you're updating version, using the -U flag.

I checked doing:
rpm -q package
rpm -qpl package

installing
rpm -i package

rpm -i --nodeps package

and also
rpm -qi apckage

without any luck
or info
is there in RH such a thing as ghost files or folder
if I cannot find it or find any ref to it
what is going on?
