On an Apache virtual server I have a subsite which was dumped into a directory in an existing domain and has been taking traffic from there since ....

I want to do something with that top domain now and want to move this content out into its own domain.

But there are people with bookmarks or links etc and there are images in various image message boards still being looked at ..

so the old content (images) are here

and I want to move them to here

I would like, at least for a while for requests for the first image to be served the image from the second location as the first will be removed.

But I dont want the logs from olddomain.com to include any more requests for these files or images etc ....

Any tips appreciated.

I think that if people are still requesting the images on the old domain, then the onlt way to remove them from the logs would be to grep them out afterwards, or add a directives to the vhost to not log for that directory..?

Aside from that, if they are on the same machine - you could symbolicly link the files so that the old domain images pointed to where they are on the new one... Or use an .htaccess solution.
