I'm having a spot of bother getting rpm to do anything on RH 7.2. I'm getting a 'resource temporarily unavailable' error when db3 tries to open the /var/lib/rpm/Packages rpm index.

Theres 107 Mb free on Var, I'm logged in as root and fuser shows no processes currently accessing that file.

Anyone come accross this before?

thanks

Not sure but you should look at..

man rpm

And maybe this will solve it

rpm -rebuilddb

David,

sorry for the delay replying, I have been trying a few things to get it up and running again.

None of them worked, (even suggestions from the redhat rpm mailing list, helpful as they were) however rpm -rebuilddb did the job.

If you're ever in south London, I owe you a beer or several!

thanks a lot :-)
