USB Wireless Network Card Issues

Hello all,

I need your help guys. A few days ago I installed Kubuntu 6.06 on a friend's PC, all went well apart from the usb wireless network card install. The PCI Network card (non wireless) was detected successfully tho, but unfortunately due to location of his wireless router it would be impractical to run a cable to the PC.

The card in question is a belkin usb network card, model FSD7050uk, version 3000uk. I believe the chipset for this model was made by Ralink (RT2501 / RT73), and have already managed to find the driver in source format for this model. (can't test it until i get to my friends house again). Not really familiar with installing drivers (or software) from source so this could be a problem.

I previously tried using ndiswrapper on the windows driver to get the card to work. However even when the card was plugged in ndiswrapper -l reported the hardware was not present. I should note that the windows drivers used for this came straight from the original belkin cd, and are working in windows.

Anyway I'm sorry for the bible, just wanted to get everything out. Can anyone point me in the direction of a tutorial or any info that may help to solve this problem, or give any advice on how to get this card to work. I'm halfways tempted to tell my friend to drill a hole thru his roof to lay a network cable, but don't think that will go down too well.

Thanks in advance for any help tou can give
Mike
