I have a PHP file that delves into my MYSQL DB and creates a sitemap. ideally, I would like to have a cron job (unless I can do it in PHP or someother trigger) to run this PHP file and save the output to a repetitive file name. the reason I want to do this is that I read that static site_map pages index much better in search engines.

So to recap:
- PHP file is called currently from URL and it creates a site_map that uses the info in my database
- want to have this run automatically every day once so that the site map is up to date

Is CRON the way?

thank you in advance for any help/tips you can provide.

Cheers

Sure

0 0 * * * /usr/bin/wget http://example.com/generatesitemap.php -O /var/www/html/sitemap.html

Works great.
