gigabit network card for debian sarge

any recommendations

hi,

we need a gigabit card for sarge with 2.6.8 kernel. we have tried to install a D-LINK DGE 528T but it only has drivers to 2.2 and 2.4 kernels, and my attempt at patching the 2.6 kernel didn't exactly work ;)

can anyone recommend a compatible card?

Can you compile a new kernel, or are you stuck with the 2.6.8? It looks like kernels 2.6.10 and above automatically recognize the DGE-528T.

I realize this doesn't answer your question, but hopefully bumping this will find someone with an opinion on gigabit cards for *nix

i've never done that. it is only a dev box, so i might give that a go. i'll have a look to see how easy that is first though ;)
