I have had a similar situation. I set up my network and assigned a domain to the network. From the outside I am able to type my domain and view my network web server. But from the inside if I type the domain I see the router admin page.
This is because the router is only set up to handle domain requests from outside the network.
My work around was to alter network pc host files to show
www.example.com ser.ver.ip.addres
that way even if I request the domain in the pc, it changes it to the ip address for the actual request.
Think of your network as being a house. Then imagine trying to post a letter to yourself. You need to go outside to do so. Same is true for an external address request.
