I've ended up a little over my head, so would appreciate any assistance. I built and host a site for a client, they retained the domain name which is set to a server in Oz. They then redirect the web traffic to my server (in the US). That all works fine except for when I want to send them email or them me. They get an error message reading:

"Your mail system could not find a way to successfully communicate with the destination system. Please notify your administrator."

I contacted the host and they said I need to set up a MX entry to reflect that mail being sent to or from my server needs to be sent to their host in Oz. Problem is I don't know how to do that!

Any suggestions, pointers very much appreciated.

First quesitoni s: Do you have control of your DNS? Meaning, are you able to add or remove hosts in your domain?

If yes, then setting up an MX record is pretty straight-forward. It's setting up your server to accept email for your domain that can sometimes get tricky, depending on what you want to do (ie: virtual domains with mutiple receiving domains, with POP and IMAP support, or simply just "accept the email and forward it to my hotmail account")

Let me know, and we can go further.

Hi, thanks for the reply. Yes I am able to add and remove hosts.
What I want to do is when I'm sending email from one of the other accounts on the server (different domain) to the affected site, that those emails are sent off to the third party server (in Oz).

Thankyou
