hi,
i cant copy the movies files to my hard-disk. I am using linux 8.0 (mandrake). it says input/ouput read error. I tried to copy couple of mp3's and other files and it copied them well.
let me also know the movie player as well which could play the movies which has got *.dat as extension.

.dat
is not a movie file extension.

Re: your I/O error

Are you sure it's not a DVD in a CD player?

avseq01.dat is a vcd video and because they way they are written to cd are prone to errors easily, If you can copy the file easily into a windows partition it maybe that linux is picking up a slight error, if its a dual partition try copying it to hard drive and if you can, then mount the partion in linux copy it from there.
