im quite new to linux, although i have tried mandrake once. what im thinking of now is this....i want to try linux tehn possibly make it full time. so i though i make a multi os system. and since i want to try bsd i wnat to install that too...:)
so this is my plan.
windows 2k or win xp (or server 2003 just to try it)
debian
bsd
that means three main partitions, then i thiought id have a fat part for data so that both linux and win can access and then one again for trying out other distros...(i am curious u see;)..)
so that means a total of five partitions(not including any swap and other sdeprate linux parts.)
i have two drives one 60 and one 80 so iw as wndering of any links to aor idea to how to partiton these two up in a sesible way...i think my main uses will be win adn debian on a 60%win 40&debian to start with (but i am going touse a seperate part for data so that wouldnt matter i think)
and also, what is the diff between the threemain bsd distros..? which one shoul i, as a hoime user, use?

I'm not sure how Debian and BSD interact, but Windows will overwrite the master boot record and change the active partition whenever it feels like it (and during installation). So, if you have the option in linux, make sure you (a) tell it to install the boot loader into the first sector of the partition (rather than the MBR) and (b) make sure you know how to get into Fdisk from a boot floppy or CD so that you can reactivate any partition you want (the Windows 98 setup CD is nice for this).
