hi all,

i have a situation where the load average of a box is getting really high (50 or so), yet i can't find a process to blame..
i suspect it's due to excessive disk usage (i can see that using sar)- top and ps do not show any high cpu of any process, nor do i see a swap in / swap out (using the vmstat), as the load-average climbs up and up.

i wanted to ask- is there a way to check i/o usage per perocess?
or, maybe from the other way- is there a way to learn which file gets the most read/write requests (that may point to the problematic process that issues the i/o to that file).

anything would be appreciated..
