GIF Animation Software - Change an Existing GIF

For some reason, ImageReady won't let me save an animated gif UN-optimized. I'm trying to preserve the exact colors I have now, but after ImageReady saves it "optimized," the colors are shifted slightly. (just enough to bug me)

Is there a program that saves the exact color pallet you specify?

Another vote for fireworks!

You can choose to optimise as little or as much as you like in the export preview window.

I am not that experienced using imageready but i have to assume that adobe have covered this base as well? Not sure?

The fireworks setting for animated gifs can be altered to specified palettes or to a number of predefined settings. you can also otimise certain frames so those that contain less colour info (for example)can be optimised on varying scales.

imageready should be able to do this - ive never had any problems. you need to play around with the optimisation settings, in the optimise pallette there will probably be a drop down that says 'custom' - try changing it to selective or perceptual, and increasing the number of colors used.

ImageReady won't even give me the option of saving in a gif format. I wonder if I'm missing a plug-in or something.

no plugin required. goto the window menu and choose show optimised. now you can use the tabs at the top of the image to preview the optimised version and fidlle with the settings..
