I know how to do it for type, but the problem comes when I try to resize a screengrab - the text goes all wrong: blocky and anti aliased...

Anyone have any ideas?

I am not sure if this is your problem, but when resizing images make sure the MODE is RGB Color, if it is Indexed Color, the image will look bad if resized. Once you make it RGB color, you can resize it.

Also, if the only layer is "Background", doubleclick on it and make it a layer - that way you can use the "transform" command on the layer.

Like I said, not sure if this will help.

Good luck

Yeah - the mode is RGB - I've also tried every other mode and it looks just as bad.

I think I'm just going to solve this very easily by emailing the pics to a colleague who uses Fireworks. I'll try the layer thing as well, though.

added: thanks btw. :)

If you want to resize a screen shot and NOT distort the pixels like that, you either need to anti-alias it when you resize it (which will cause fuzzy edges to a certain extent), OR you need to put it in indexed color mode, and ONLY resize it in multiples of 4 of the original dimensions: 50x50 image can go to 200x200 without a problem in indexed mode, etc.

Otherwise, spots only a single pixel high or wide will not be able to scale exactly... so you end up with some places that double in width or height, and some that don't, and everything looks icky. :)

Clarification: If the text is "blocky" or "pixellated" looking, is is ALIASED. If the text is "fuzzy" or "smooth" looking along the edges, it is ANTI-ALIASED.
