Hi,

I need to reduce videos both in size and 'weight' and was wondering what is the minimum software requirment?

The videos are mpg and range from 4 to 15 meg and are 500 x 288 pixels big. I want to reduce them to ~ 170 x 100 but don't want to use the html properties as I am sure it will not reduce the movie size.

Qu: if I had to buy a software that allow me to do just that, what would you guys recommand? I don't need something powerful (read expensive ;) ) because I am not a video studio. I just need a soft that allows me to change the size of a movie (Mb) but good enough not to loose in quality (not more than necessary). If it allow a bit of video editing that great but if it doesn't no worries as long as the price reflect it.

I know nothing about video but could you tell me what video encoding should be used also.

Thanks a lot

Leo.

Hey le_gber,

You're right, changing the html tags won't alter the file size of the video at all!

Have a look at RAD Video tools Bink Video, it's free and will do the job nicely for you!

VirtualDub and if it's not enough you could use Windows media encoder or Helix producer for windows or real streaming format.
All of above is free.
