I bought Adobe Type Basics [adobe.com] partly in hopes of using Helvetica for some graphics instead of Arial. So I was surprised to fire up the graphic programs and find the standard Helvetica displaying exactly the same as the standard Arial. (How to Spot Arial [ms-studio.com]) Curiously, Helvetica Narrow displays very differently than Arial Narrow, as it should, but nowhere does standard Helvetica escape the substitution shadow of standard Arial.
Is there any hope for this eager font newbie?
So it is just me being a troublemaker? =) None of our Mac gurus who have to deal with Windows at work have come across this issue? Ah well, I will try to bug Adobe with the free support call and see if they have heard of this issue. Thanks all.
I think I'd contact Microsoft support instead of Adobe... assuming the problem is occurring in more than one program.
