Debabelizer jpg compression

How can I keep the same compression while shrinking the file size.

Hi All:

I just picked up a copy of Debabelizer and I'm having a fun time writing scripts. One item that I am working on is to scale all jpgs above 275 pixels wide down to 275 pixels. I've set up the script, but I'm having a hard time getting rid of the bluriness while keeping the file size down.

The original jpgs were saved from Photoshop 5.5 using save for the web. Most are set around quality of 60 (high) before saving from Photoshop.

I can duplicate the quality visually, but the file sizes inflate above what the original file was.

I'm using Windows.

Sacle the originals, not the JPEGs.

In your example, you're also scaling the JPEG artifacts of the original compression, which makes the resulting image harder for the JPEG codec to compress.
