Changing the colour of an image?

I have a company logo that is 256 colors .gif in various shades of blue. I want to use PSP or Photoshop, to simply change it to shades of a different color of my choosing. Is there a simple way to do this?

Yes. In Photoshop change the mode under the image menu to RGB. Then go to adjust under the image menu. Use Hue/Saturation and there is a colorize checkbox in the bottom right hand corner. Check it and change the hue to prefered color.

Thanks korkus2000. One thing though, this seems a bit of trial and error(i.e. playing with the hue value until the right color comes up). If I have a specific color in mind can I quickly select that? Thanks.

I don't personally know of a way to select a specific hue in the hue/saturation window, but if you write down the values on the sliders after you "tweak" it to the exact color you want, you'll have an easy time of it next time you need to change the colors on a different version of the graphic.

OTOH, if there is a way to select a specific color to shift to, I'd love to hear about it!

With PSP you can go to colors - colorise - then simply scroll through or choose the hue/saturation you want.

Yes, in Photoshop... before using the colorize option in Hue-Saturation, first choose your foreground color. If you have your Tools open your foreground/background color selector will be there. Click on the foreground color to get the dialog box to come up and then select your new color. Now when you go to Hue-Saturation and click on colorize it will automatically colorize (Hue) to your foreground color - you will still need to play with the saturation and light/dark sliders.
